Money, in the popular parlance, is the measure of all things..
We must develop, agree to, and implement, with irrevocable benchmarks, a new common
and universal economic belief system, to be coded in the laws of all nations as well as the
United Nations, which can then serve as a basis for our social and political principles  This
new Economics is to be known as Desirable Whole Economics.  The choice:  Or not.
Money.  Money, in the popular parlance, is the measure of all things.  That money is the
measure of all things would appear to be quite natural to those who are of the business class
The first thing the small businessman does in the morning is to count out his starting cash
drawer, and the first thing at night is to balance that cash drawer.  Money was a natural
measuring stick to use in measuring all business activity large or small.  All consumers had
to live by the same measuring stick.  In its origins the Capitalist was admired, was emulated,
by the
money seeking, status conscious populous.  As one of the period type politicians said,
in paraphrase, “Business is the business” of all Americans.
Money as the supreme value and measuring stick had this sticking point right away.  It was
clamoring for constant attention in a population that was also declared to be a democracy.
Well, democracy was a long time coming to many Americans.  Things like the possession of
property, the color of your skin, and the nature of your gender, kept getting in the way.  As
the moneyed became more secure in the possession of their excess wealth, the vote was
gradually extended.  The principle of one man equals one vote was present from the
beginning however.  Thus democracy spoke on behalf of equality.  As a matter of historical
fact, that equality won no favor among the rich elite, and to all effects did not exist.
Capitalism, which is the be all, end all, to its adherents, is trumpeted as the source of all
wealth in the “free enterprise” society.  We owe a great debt to it, all the politicians parrot.
It is not the source of all wealth, but what wealth there is is placed in the hands of the
favored rich elite.  Here is how the Capitalist Creed works out.  Everyone is competing with
everyone else for maximum profits possible.  Thus everyone is competing with everybody.
At any one time there is only a fixed amount of pie.  The more pie you take, the less pie that
is left for me.  Now this pie represents food, shelter, medical care, wardrobe, transportation,
clean water, and diversion, at a bare minimum.  So the competition we are in is not a
friendly competition.  It is a competition for survival.  The rich elite tells us to smile, and be
sociable, while engaging in this struggle for life.  Well, everyone is not a great “for
maximum profit, profit maker”.  In fact only a small percentage of the population is.  The
system wouldn’t work at all if everyone was a gifted maximum profit, profit maker.  But
they are not..  They are gifted in other things, all of which are necessary and/or enjoyable by
everyone.  So what happens over a period of time is the maximum profit makers go on
making maximum profits.  Eventually, and in human terms it is not really a very long time,
the for maximum profit, profit makers, control all of society’s wealth.  They control all of
the money.  The system cannot
work at all under those circumstances.  So there is an
inevitable collapse of the monetary and economic systems.  There is a Great
Depression.
